Solico Engineers New Composite VQ 55 by Vanquish Yachts

Solico, a leading maritime composite engineering specialist, announces its latest high-performance motor yacht collaboration with Vanquish Yachts.  Solico has now engineered the hull, deck, deckhouse, and carbon roof for the new VQ 55, optimizing the structures to manage the significant loads of a 3000 hp engine package and a 70+ knot top speed whilst also ensuring a reduced build time that enables the Vanquish team to meet strong demand for the new model.

Vanquish Yachts crafts fully customisable aluminium motor yachts from 45 to 80 feet, composite powerboats from 11 to 55 feet, and bespoke superyachts from 80 feet upwards. Built at its yard in the Netherlands, the new composite VQ 55 Sports Line will once again showcase the striking Vanquish style developed by award winning designer Guido de Groot. The VQ 55 will be the group’s largest composite build to date, and the fastest, with outboard and inboard engine options providing top speeds of 70+ or 55+ knots, respectively.

“Vanquish Yachts are very special boats and the VQ 55 even more so. Its unique styling and powerful performance on the water is perfect for composite construction. Solico’s mission with this latest project was to engineer robust, safe, and easy to build composite structures that delivered the optimum balance of performance and processing speed as well as meeting the demanding performance criteria required for the high top speeds,” comments Coen Meerbach, Business Unit Manager, Solico.

Marcel Klaassen, Project Manager , Vanquish Yachts, said, “As an engineering partner, Solico’s practical and production focussed approach to engineering details is a key enabler of the reduced build time that our composite range offers. Owners looking for the radical appearance, exceptional quality, and elegant allure of a Vanquish yacht can now be on the water in less than half the time. Solico’s expertise with fast composite vessels for civil and military RIB builders, as well as high speed search and rescue (SAR) vessels gives us additional reassurance when we’re working on our first 70+ knot yacht.”

Hull number 1 of the VQ 55 Sports Series was launched at Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show earlier in October 2023.
